Teli encourages oil & gas PSUs to support economic activity in Rajasthan

Rameswar Teli held a review meeting with the top brass of oil and gas PSUs in Rajasthan and encouraged them to support economic activity in the region

New Delhi: Minister of State (MoS) for Petroleum and Natural Gas Rameswar Teli held a review meeting with the top brass of oil and gas Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) in Rajasthan on Saturday and encouraged the companies to support economic activity in the region. Teli visited Oil and Natural Gas Corporation’s (ONGC) office in Jodhpur, HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Ltd’s Pachpadra refinery project and the Mangala Processing Terminal operated by Cairn Oil and Gas, Vedanta Ltd.

“Visited @ONGC_ office, Jodhpur, Rajasthan & took review meeting of oil companies. During the meeting, I interacted with the top officials of different oil & gas PSUs and encouraged them to ensure high standards of efficiency in order to support economic activity in the region,” said Teli in a series of posts on X, formerly known as Twitter.

HRRL’s Pachpadra refinery project will enhance industrial activity in region: Teli

Talking about the HRRL refinery project in Pachpadra, Rajasthan, Teli said, “It is an integrated refinery-cum-petrochemical complex being set up in the Barmer district of Rajasthan. The project is being executed by HPCL Rajasthan Refinery (HRRL), a joint venture between HPCL and government of Rajasthan.”

“Boasting of a processing capacity of nine million tonnes of crude oil per annum, the facility promises to enhance industrial activity in the region by acting as a hub for the production of environment-friendly clean fuels and petrochemicals,” he added.

‘Aim should be to use as much local crude oil as possible in Barmer refinery’

"India currently imports 83 percent of its oil needs. The vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is that we should be self-reliant in this matter by producing more oil within the country," a release from the company quoting the minister said.

“The oil fields of Rajasthan are producing good oil and the production is going to increase further in future. The aim will be to use as much local crude oil as possible in the refinery to be built in Barmer," the release said. Union MoS for Agriculture and Barmer MP Kailash Choudhary said with the discovery and production of oil, a change has taken place in Barmer. "New opportunities for industries and employment have been created here,” he said.
